Price: $30/hour

On-site and off-site lessons are priced the same.

Payment can be made through cash, check or venmo.

Travel

Price: $0.60/mile

You are located within 30 miles of Rumely, MI.
I will be onsite for 2 or more hours per session, or will be working with more than one student.
You are able to coordinate with another student who lives within 10 miles of you.

Lessons may be mounted (on the horse) or unmounted (no riding included) for both on and off-site lessons. Please see each tab for what mounted lessons can include.

Equine handling lessons

On-site Lessons

I have one mounted lesson spot for a child under 80 lbs who is interested in english riding on the pony pictured below, for a one hour lesson, once a week.

Student may be any level, and there is no required tack or apparel to begin riding, although they must wear closed toed shoes and some sort of long pants.

Stopping
Steering
Proper balance and position
Walk, Trot, Canter
Jumping
Trail riding
Potential for showing

There are also a few unmounted lesson spots with the same pony (and potentially larger horses on a case by case basis) upon request for those who just want to gain knowledge and experience. There are no size or age restrictions for unmounted lessons.

Unmounted lessons may include any of the following mentioned above, as well as driving instruction, as the pony is trained to pull a cart.

There is a roundpen available for beginners and a large outdoor area for students who are comfortable steering and handling a horse alone.

Off-site Lessons

Lessons will be given at the student or horse's location.

Mounted lessons are open to pretty much anything that is available to the student and their skill level at the current time. I am also open to coach students through shows!

Their own horse, or access to someone else's, that is reasonably behaved in correlation to the student's riding ability, as well as appropriately sized.
A helmet and closed toed shoes.
Tack that they are comfortable riding in, and are appropriate for the horse. This is something I can help with!
An area they are comfortable riding in, can be enclosed, can be out in the open as long as the student is comfortable.

I am more familar with english disciplines in terms of more advanced riding, but for the basics english and western are the same, so I am happy to work with students of both disciplines.

Their own horse, or access to someone else's, that is reasonably behaved in correlation to the student's learning path. For example, a fearful horse would not make sense for a student to use for beginner handling unless they are prepared to work through that or train the horse prior to.
A halter and lead rope
The tools needed to excecute the lessons. For example, brushes for grooming, or a trailer for learning to load horses. This is something I can help with!
